colins 9 month letter

dear buttons.

you turned 9 months old this month. youre 9.5 months now. mamas last again. sorry pooky.

we've done quite a few new and fun things with you this month.

you took your first sink bath this month. you loved it. you managed to flood my kitchen, but you certainly had a blast doing it.

you also went to your first district convention this month. you were awesome, as always. you met new friends and played with old ones. we had a picnic lunch outside in the beautiful sunshine, which is your favorite place to be. you went to the fri sessions in kitchener and sat and sun in sudbury.

you got to see a lot of friends the weekend we went away to sudbury, your birthplace. heres just a few of the friends you love so much.

these are just a few faces of all the friends and family you have who love you to no end. youre one popular little boy.

this month you told us you no longer wanted to be swaddled. this comes as a blessing, because i was getting very tired of re wrapping you up all thru the night.

you're also recently learning to sleep on your own, in your own bed, in your own room. this makes mummy and daddy very happy. we love having you in our room, but you kick, pinch, pull hair and slap in your sleep. not so fun my son. not so fun at all. but youre doing great with it, and we are very proud of you.

you also have 6 teeth now. i cant believe it. 3 on the top and 3 on the bottom. it will be 8 teeth in a matter of days im sure.

you love to stand up on your own and use our hands to pull yourself up. you pulled yourself up with a toy bin once, all on your own. you scared yourself though, so you havent tried it again.

youre 9.5 months, but youre feet are still as small as they when you were only a month or two old. you still wear your shoes you had for newborn and 0-3 months. youre feet got wider but not really much bigger. its cute.

youre eating 3-4 jars of food a day plus all the snacks you can get a hold of. cheerios, puffs, cheese, yogurt, bread and whatever else i feel you may like. you love soup too which is great because soup is mamas favorite too. i let you have pancake and you loved it. screamed in joy over it.

your favorite songs are old macdonald and an italian song your great grandfather loved. you could be screaming and throwing a tantrum and as soon as we play that song, you immediately stop and just listen. you love it and we play it all the time for you, over and over and over ... its called "Eh Cumpari!" its from the 1950's. its about all kinds of different instruments and what sounds they each make. mummy and daddy heard it one night we were on a date night and we knew you would love it. sure enough it quickly became your favorite song.

you are our music baby. you love anything musical. you love to sing. clap. kick you legs to the music and throw your hands around.

youre learning to wave and clap your hands. you mastered typing on uncle brandons old baby computer that you use now. you do the two fingered typing, hehe.

you love to reach out to everyone now. if someone puts their hands out to you, you almost always put yours out too.

you have your own baby grunting language thats really cute. you grunt at me when youre telling me "more" or "look" at this mama or "watch" me mum!

we are all so happy to have you here baby boy. youre a blessing and a complete joy. youre getting so big and learning things every single day.

i love you so much. i cant wait for even more memories to make with you. i say it all the time, life before you just doesnt exhist. its like youve always been here with us.

keep smiling baby boy. because you bring the greatest feelings to everyone around you.



colins 8 month letter

daer monkey man.

youre 8 months old now (tech youre nearly 9 months old, mamas a little late this month)

and boy youre busy. youre not mobile quite yet, but youre getting there. i mean busy doing things. play dates and outings. youre such an outdoors baby. you love grass, water and sand. you sit like a professional and youre working on crawling. for now, you rock back and forth to get you places. but everyday youre that much closer.

some new foods youre enjoying are cottage cheese and some solids. youve tried chunks of blueberries and bread with jam. you also love these little puffs we buy you.

we took you to your first zoo, and you had a blast. youre fav part of the whole zoo was the water feature they had. you were ready to leap from my arms and dive into the pond. silly boy.

 



you being so interested in the water got me thinking that i should get you your own pool. so thats what i did. you love it! i think you would splash all day if i let you.

this month i took you to our downtown lake and you loved being there. youre a people watcher so you enjoyed seeing everyone. you went on the swings and met a new friend. everywhere you go you seem to make new friends. youre quite the social butterfly.

because you loved it so much, ive taken you a handful of times. we've even gone stroller blading. which is really fun for mama :)

with the weather being so nice, i take you on picnics and walks and we roll around in the dirt. you laugh and we play silly games and sing songs. youre a lot of fun. i never get bored with you around baby boy.

you still love meeting new people and you love the ladies. especially blondes. you stare at all the pretty ladies and flirt with them. which of course they love every min of and soak up every sec spent with you.

everywhere we go, strangers constantly flock to me and comment on how adorable and gorgeous you are. it still shocks me. BUT honestly, you are really that cute! its so bad i have to plan sometimes to leave an extra 30 min before needing to arrive somewhere because i know we'll be stopped multiple times by strangers.

i mean look at your face. its beyond perfect.

you have the tiniest cutest button nose ive ever seen on a baby. your smile is breathtaking with your toothy gums. your eyes are so pretty they mirror a gorgeous blue ocean. ahhh! youre just so adorable, i cant get over it.

you seriously are the brad pitt of babies!

well my son, i love you more than words can express and each day my love doubles for you. you make me laugh and smile daily. and because of you i do crazy strange things that only other mamas would understand. like belting out you are my sunshine while pumping gas just to hear you giggle. or i prance around in high heels kicking my feet just to watch you fall over from laughing so hard.

please dont ever change. youre a shining star and the world is a better place to be in because youre here with us.

you amaze me boy and life is 100x better now that your here.

colins 7th month letter

dear bug,

7 months has come my dear sweet baby. youre such a big boy. your around 17lbs and 26" long. thats a long way from the tiny 6lb-er you once were.

each day with you just gets better and better. youre so smiley and happy all the time. everyone always says to me youre the happiest baby theyve ever seen, AND the cutest too, hehe.



that pic was taken at the RVH where we went to visit uncle john. it was your first time there. i was nervous to take you, but you were born in a hospital. :)

some things youre learning to master this month are, sitting and standing.


here you are praticing your new skill. i think sitting babies are the CUTEST!!!

some new things youve done this month also include, your first trip to the park.



you loved swinging!



you also tried your first meat. you tolerated the taste, but werent a huge fan. i think you thought "well its better than peaches" you hate those.



you also got your 1st car this month too. its probably your favorite toy at the moment. you love driving. you'll sit in that car for litterly hours (well 2, because than its nap time)

a couple funny things you've done to me this month, include your very first poop in the bath. that was a little eye popping for mama. i really didnt know what to do. scoop it out ?? melt it down the drain ?? first thing was first, get you out of the poop soup. than throw your toys in a hot soapy wash. than deal with the soup after. your whole bath started out because you had just peed all over yourself completely drenching your body. so i was a little surprised when you pooped too!

you also have discovered the toilet paper roll. you think its a yummy snack. see look!

youre just overall a fun hilarious boy full of energy and laughs. i wouldnt change one single day spent with you. you bring new meaning to life colin.


everything you do is funny to me. i love seeing life through your eyes. its like i get to expierence everything all over again too.

youre still VERY cuddly. you love to give kisses and hugs. you high five. and you love to "talk" all day long. you get so excited when you meet new people and always flash them an ear to ear grin. everyone just loves you. but how couldnt you love this face.



most people now tell me you look more like me. hearing that makes my heart melt. afterall you are mamas boy!

the summer is almost here and we have so many plans for you. little day trips here and there. you love outings. seeing new faces and being outdoors in the fresh air.

well my sweet lil bean, slow down son. some days i cant keep up with you. youre growing so fast, its like if i blink i could miss a day.

youre the best thing thats ever happened to me and always will be. daddy and i love you to no end.

its almost like time before you stood still and i can barely even remember when you werent with us. you feel like youve been here forever.

colins 6 month letter

hello mr. handsome!

dear babers

youre 6 months old now. time sure flies by when youre having fun. i still look back and see my little newborn squishy. youve come so far in this short 6 months.

youre "talking" now and say new words every day it seems. its hard to believe actually. you say "mom, hi, daddy, papa and bye" and you will copy anything we want you to say. it confuses mommy because you seem too young to be able to do this, but i check out what other 6 month old babies are doing, and youre right on with them.

ive been teaching you to high five recently. its cute. i showed you a couple times and you pretty much got it. of course i always have to show you what to do first, but thats expected, hehe.

i think youre ready to begin learning signs now. im excited for that.

youre almost sitting on your own now. you flop over after a few sec but thats okay. im here to catch you. you love standing with help of course. or you lean up against furniture to help you too.

youre into music and love toys that interact with you. your fav right now its this possessed dog that sings and talks on its own. its quite scary. but you love it. you squeal in excitement when you see him.

you love to be sang to and read to. and you love dancing.

another fav thing right now is when someone lifts you over their heads when up in the air. you giggle and smile and coo.

youre starting to eat more now too. such a big boy. sometimes you will cry and cry and cry and we dont know how to soothe you, so we stick you in your highchair and you immediately stop. you must know food is coming, because it works every time. you like bananas, carrots, butternut squash, apple sauce and cookies. youre not all that interested in peaches though. but you def have eyes for ice cream. and i sneak you a tiny bit here and there, shhhh dont tell!! its our secret ;)

recently you started to really have fun in your gym too. you werent big enough for it for a long time. but now your little toesies can touch the bottom and you can even bounce. you love it so much, you will play for endless amounts of time, spinning around and screaching in happiness.



youre still a very happy smiley lil thing. always have a smile for everyone. you love people and take to strangers well, which scares mommy. but thats just who you are. youre outgoing and love everyone.

youre starting to really watch children and animals now too. you love to see kids playing and having fun. you cant take your eyes off them.

but by far, your grandpa is your most fav person ever. you take to him like candy to babies ? (HA) that must be grandpas secret, he must be sneaking you sugar. but you really do love him and i call him your best friend. youve even tried to leap out of my arms to get to him, and you dont do that for anyone else. when you hear his voice, you go crazy trying to find him with your eyes. i think you hang out with him too much.

you bring so much joy and happiness to everyones lives. strangers want to meet you and gift you all the time. i still get random baby gifts for you from people ive never even met before. its heartwarming that you, a little tiny 6 month old baby can even touch someone whos only seen you from a far.

my heart aches for anyone who hasnt had the chance to hold you or see you yet, because son, they dont know what theyre missing. but than i think, thats okay, you have so many friends who love you no matter what, youre not missing out.

youre just so fantastic, words cant even express. 

not a second goes by everyday i dont think about how much i love you. its like youve always been here. you just fit in so well. you sure have mommy and daddy wrapped around your tiny fingers. we would do anything for you or just make you smile.

i love you son, and even though youre 6 months old, you will always be my tiny litttle newborn squishy.

colins 5 month letter

dear baby bean

5 months today my son. 5 whole months.

you seemed to be a busy lil guy these past few weeks.

you can stand assisted. you found your toes. you got your first 2 teeth already which was very shocking. and you teethed like a champ. i guess you have great pain tolerence. you learned how to roll from tummy to back. that was a really exciting one for us, but you've yet to prove it to daddy of course. you also got to try some "solid" food which you've been dying for weeks to. & of course you loved whatever was being shoveled into your mouth. i think you take after daddy. you tried rice cereal and oatmeal so far. both are a win win.

next month you will get to advance to even more deliciousness. like sweet potatoes, bananas and mangos, carrots and peas. theres no doubt in my mind youre going to love it all.

some other things you love right now are anything musical or brightly coloured. you respond well to toys which interact with you too. your fav toys at the moment are your singing noahs arc and your talking tigger. of course they are kept at grandma and grandpas though, hehe.

you still love to be on your back mostly during the day. kicking and squealing away and swatting at your toys.

you try to sit up on your own, but its not going too well. you tend to flop right over after a few seconds. but thats okay. take your time dear son, you have plenty of time to grow.

i have to say your most fav activity is to stand. you can stand by yourself holding onto something or by being held. its cute. you use the coffee table a lot to lean on or mommy and daddys hands.

and when youre in a laying down position, if we pull you up, you go straight into standing, you pretty much refuse to sit or bend your legs.

this week has been a rough one for you. you unfortunately caught your first cold. its sad and it breaks mommys heart. but you will overcome it soon, im sure. youre a tough little cookie. but because your not feeling yourself, you just sleep a lot. all day and all night. and your face is a mess. all the sneezing and coughing is making you miserable, yet you still smile and laugh.

at your dr. appt you got your 2nd round of vaccines, and you did great. nothing even comparable to last time. sure you cried for a little bit, but you were fine and back to normal within a few min. it was like it never happened. i think its because you have some chunk to your thighs now.

you weighed 14lbs 13oz and were 26" long. thats a long way since a tiny 6lb baby at birth. although youre still tiny in my eyes.

youre still very social and love to talk to everyone. today at the grocery store i had a lady pretty much say she wanted to steal you. i get compliments after compliments about how cute you are. i think you know it too. as soon as someone looks your way, you bat your eyes and give them the biggest smile and coo and laugh.

you graduated from your bassinet to your pack and play. mommy and daddy arent ready for you to be in your big boy crib yet in your own room. mommy still shines a light on you every 30 min to make sure youre okay.

well big boy, i love you more and more every single second of the day. & sometimes i think i will explode with love for you. you complete my world son and im so thankful to have you.

colins 4 month letter

hey wee man.



youre 4 months old now. youre still very new, but i miss my lil newborn squishims.



youre becoming such a person these days.



laughing and talking. learning new things. you just started smacking your tongue a few days ago. its cute. i have no idea where you picked that up from though. maybe its a first sign of being ready to eat soon. you show us your interested in our food now. your still too little to try things, but soon my son, soon. we cant wait for you to start trying food.



you hold your own head up now. nobody has to help you. you love sitting. and standing is your new fav thing to do. although we dont do it too much. your bones are still too soft to hold your own weight.



you try to feed yourself. you can do it for a little while, but than your hands go "crazy" because you dont have great control over them yet. you still do rapid movements which tell me youre not quite at that stage yet.



you still have no interest in rolling. but thats just fine. i do pressure you into trying though. its probably my fault. most days i forget to even give you tummy time. although lately, youre more tolerable to be on your tummy.



you love sitting in your bumbo seat. now that you can hold your own head up with the least bit of wobbles, you get to be in it more frequently.



this past month, you went on your first away from home vacation. we went to sudbury. where you were born. we visited all our friends and some family. you transitioned very well. considering you didnt have your bed, you did excellent. you still slept through the night, but for a shorter time. 7-8 hrs instead of your normal 10-12hrs.



youre back on tract now that we're home. :)



this month was a sad month for you. you have a really bad case of dry skin. the dr. called it winter skin rash. he put you on 3 creams. they dont seem to bother you. cept the first time i was rubbing it on your head you stuck your fist into the jar and got it everywhere, haha.



you still a little comedic. always laughing and smiling. you tell stories, and you love to hear gurgling sounds.



you like to be tickled and kissed all over your face. you laugh and coo.



you did something funny to mama this month. i will never forget it. you were sleeping on me and we were sitting in the lobby to our building. theres cameras there, so whoever was watching saw this in action. as you slept on me, i felt a warm gush ... you peed all over me. even though you had a diaper on, i was soaked. mom grabbed you and changed you, and i just sat there drentched in pee. i laughed and laughed. after mom changed you i went to get you to take you home, so i could change, and you puked down the side of me, shoulder to toe. oh boy was i laughing now.

its the begining of a new year. i wonder what 2011 will bring? you will accomplish many things. crawling, walking, eating and the list goes on. some days i have to tell myself to slow down, not to feel rushed, because i want to enjoy every waking min with you. but im just so excited i can hardly contain it.

who would have ever thought, YOU baby boy could make my entire world wonderful. youre a joy to be around and everyone wants a piece of you to savour forever.

i love you baby. more and more each day.
