colins 6 month letter

hello mr. handsome!

dear babers

youre 6 months old now. time sure flies by when youre having fun. i still look back and see my little newborn squishy. youve come so far in this short 6 months.

youre "talking" now and say new words every day it seems. its hard to believe actually. you say "mom, hi, daddy, papa and bye" and you will copy anything we want you to say. it confuses mommy because you seem too young to be able to do this, but i check out what other 6 month old babies are doing, and youre right on with them.

ive been teaching you to high five recently. its cute. i showed you a couple times and you pretty much got it. of course i always have to show you what to do first, but thats expected, hehe.

i think youre ready to begin learning signs now. im excited for that.

youre almost sitting on your own now. you flop over after a few sec but thats okay. im here to catch you. you love standing with help of course. or you lean up against furniture to help you too.

youre into music and love toys that interact with you. your fav right now its this possessed dog that sings and talks on its own. its quite scary. but you love it. you squeal in excitement when you see him.

you love to be sang to and read to. and you love dancing.

another fav thing right now is when someone lifts you over their heads when up in the air. you giggle and smile and coo.

youre starting to eat more now too. such a big boy. sometimes you will cry and cry and cry and we dont know how to soothe you, so we stick you in your highchair and you immediately stop. you must know food is coming, because it works every time. you like bananas, carrots, butternut squash, apple sauce and cookies. youre not all that interested in peaches though. but you def have eyes for ice cream. and i sneak you a tiny bit here and there, shhhh dont tell!! its our secret ;)

recently you started to really have fun in your gym too. you werent big enough for it for a long time. but now your little toesies can touch the bottom and you can even bounce. you love it so much, you will play for endless amounts of time, spinning around and screaching in happiness.



youre still a very happy smiley lil thing. always have a smile for everyone. you love people and take to strangers well, which scares mommy. but thats just who you are. youre outgoing and love everyone.

youre starting to really watch children and animals now too. you love to see kids playing and having fun. you cant take your eyes off them.

but by far, your grandpa is your most fav person ever. you take to him like candy to babies ? (HA) that must be grandpas secret, he must be sneaking you sugar. but you really do love him and i call him your best friend. youve even tried to leap out of my arms to get to him, and you dont do that for anyone else. when you hear his voice, you go crazy trying to find him with your eyes. i think you hang out with him too much.

you bring so much joy and happiness to everyones lives. strangers want to meet you and gift you all the time. i still get random baby gifts for you from people ive never even met before. its heartwarming that you, a little tiny 6 month old baby can even touch someone whos only seen you from a far.

my heart aches for anyone who hasnt had the chance to hold you or see you yet, because son, they dont know what theyre missing. but than i think, thats okay, you have so many friends who love you no matter what, youre not missing out.

youre just so fantastic, words cant even express. 

not a second goes by everyday i dont think about how much i love you. its like youve always been here. you just fit in so well. you sure have mommy and daddy wrapped around your tiny fingers. we would do anything for you or just make you smile.

i love you son, and even though youre 6 months old, you will always be my tiny litttle newborn squishy.

colins 5 month letter

dear baby bean

5 months today my son. 5 whole months.

you seemed to be a busy lil guy these past few weeks.

you can stand assisted. you found your toes. you got your first 2 teeth already which was very shocking. and you teethed like a champ. i guess you have great pain tolerence. you learned how to roll from tummy to back. that was a really exciting one for us, but you've yet to prove it to daddy of course. you also got to try some "solid" food which you've been dying for weeks to. & of course you loved whatever was being shoveled into your mouth. i think you take after daddy. you tried rice cereal and oatmeal so far. both are a win win.

next month you will get to advance to even more deliciousness. like sweet potatoes, bananas and mangos, carrots and peas. theres no doubt in my mind youre going to love it all.

some other things you love right now are anything musical or brightly coloured. you respond well to toys which interact with you too. your fav toys at the moment are your singing noahs arc and your talking tigger. of course they are kept at grandma and grandpas though, hehe.

you still love to be on your back mostly during the day. kicking and squealing away and swatting at your toys.

you try to sit up on your own, but its not going too well. you tend to flop right over after a few seconds. but thats okay. take your time dear son, you have plenty of time to grow.

i have to say your most fav activity is to stand. you can stand by yourself holding onto something or by being held. its cute. you use the coffee table a lot to lean on or mommy and daddys hands.

and when youre in a laying down position, if we pull you up, you go straight into standing, you pretty much refuse to sit or bend your legs.

this week has been a rough one for you. you unfortunately caught your first cold. its sad and it breaks mommys heart. but you will overcome it soon, im sure. youre a tough little cookie. but because your not feeling yourself, you just sleep a lot. all day and all night. and your face is a mess. all the sneezing and coughing is making you miserable, yet you still smile and laugh.

at your dr. appt you got your 2nd round of vaccines, and you did great. nothing even comparable to last time. sure you cried for a little bit, but you were fine and back to normal within a few min. it was like it never happened. i think its because you have some chunk to your thighs now.

you weighed 14lbs 13oz and were 26" long. thats a long way since a tiny 6lb baby at birth. although youre still tiny in my eyes.

youre still very social and love to talk to everyone. today at the grocery store i had a lady pretty much say she wanted to steal you. i get compliments after compliments about how cute you are. i think you know it too. as soon as someone looks your way, you bat your eyes and give them the biggest smile and coo and laugh.

you graduated from your bassinet to your pack and play. mommy and daddy arent ready for you to be in your big boy crib yet in your own room. mommy still shines a light on you every 30 min to make sure youre okay.

well big boy, i love you more and more every single second of the day. & sometimes i think i will explode with love for you. you complete my world son and im so thankful to have you.

colins 4 month letter

hey wee man.



youre 4 months old now. youre still very new, but i miss my lil newborn squishims.



youre becoming such a person these days.



laughing and talking. learning new things. you just started smacking your tongue a few days ago. its cute. i have no idea where you picked that up from though. maybe its a first sign of being ready to eat soon. you show us your interested in our food now. your still too little to try things, but soon my son, soon. we cant wait for you to start trying food.



you hold your own head up now. nobody has to help you. you love sitting. and standing is your new fav thing to do. although we dont do it too much. your bones are still too soft to hold your own weight.



you try to feed yourself. you can do it for a little while, but than your hands go "crazy" because you dont have great control over them yet. you still do rapid movements which tell me youre not quite at that stage yet.



you still have no interest in rolling. but thats just fine. i do pressure you into trying though. its probably my fault. most days i forget to even give you tummy time. although lately, youre more tolerable to be on your tummy.



you love sitting in your bumbo seat. now that you can hold your own head up with the least bit of wobbles, you get to be in it more frequently.



this past month, you went on your first away from home vacation. we went to sudbury. where you were born. we visited all our friends and some family. you transitioned very well. considering you didnt have your bed, you did excellent. you still slept through the night, but for a shorter time. 7-8 hrs instead of your normal 10-12hrs.



youre back on tract now that we're home. :)



this month was a sad month for you. you have a really bad case of dry skin. the dr. called it winter skin rash. he put you on 3 creams. they dont seem to bother you. cept the first time i was rubbing it on your head you stuck your fist into the jar and got it everywhere, haha.



you still a little comedic. always laughing and smiling. you tell stories, and you love to hear gurgling sounds.



you like to be tickled and kissed all over your face. you laugh and coo.



you did something funny to mama this month. i will never forget it. you were sleeping on me and we were sitting in the lobby to our building. theres cameras there, so whoever was watching saw this in action. as you slept on me, i felt a warm gush ... you peed all over me. even though you had a diaper on, i was soaked. mom grabbed you and changed you, and i just sat there drentched in pee. i laughed and laughed. after mom changed you i went to get you to take you home, so i could change, and you puked down the side of me, shoulder to toe. oh boy was i laughing now.

its the begining of a new year. i wonder what 2011 will bring? you will accomplish many things. crawling, walking, eating and the list goes on. some days i have to tell myself to slow down, not to feel rushed, because i want to enjoy every waking min with you. but im just so excited i can hardly contain it.

who would have ever thought, YOU baby boy could make my entire world wonderful. youre a joy to be around and everyone wants a piece of you to savour forever.

i love you baby. more and more each day.

i can laugh

colins 3 month letter

dear butterball,

youre 3 months old today. i cant believe it. even though i say that every month, its still hard to believe. i remember when you were just mins old, this tiny wee newborn, and now look at you, filling out your adorable cheeks!! youre just too cute for words my son.

when you were just a new bun fresh from mamas oven, you didnt do a whole lot. but now you can smile and laugh (things youve been doing for quite some time) and you still love to dance, and you talk and talk and talk now.

in fact, you love to talk. you will carry on converstions with anyone. telling them how youre days gone by and what you did. its so adorable! you even have baby babble talks with your animals. i put some stickers up near your change table, and you go on and on and on to your animals talking away no matter what mood youre in. it boggles my mind ... how do you even know to talk to them. i just dont understand, haha. can you even see what they are, how could you even know what they are. you confuse mommy. but whatever, its one of your fav things to do, and it makes diaper changes fun!

(ugh you just love those animal stickers)

some things youre doing now also consist of sleeping 10+ hrs a night. that makes mommy and daddy really happy inside, you have no idea. sometimes i even have to wake you up because when you reach that 12 hr mark, i get worried that youre just so starving ... but you never are. you wake up cooing and laughing and smiling away at me. i unwrap you, open the curtains, and take you to get changed. you talk to your animals (probably telling them about your dreams) than we go sit in the livingroom and you talk to me and laugh. than finally about 15 min later, i get you a bottle ... but you just want to talk!!

you still hate your car seat most days, but i think youre getting used to it. thats one thing i wont do again if we give you a sibling. get him/her a "bucket" style carseat ... they = a big no no. but a convertable one is a win win!! you have no troubles sitting in grandma and grandpees car seat. you funny kid.

youre still a big fan of daddy these days. :) its cute. youre definately a daddys boy. even though when you need comfort, mommy does a better job <3 but someone asked me the other day, if you recognised daddy and i said, of course you do. you know your daddy. and the proof came about 5 min later when daddy walked in ... you grinned the biggest smile ive ever seen, and the man who just asked if you knew your daddy laughed and agreed, you sure do!

you also love to be read to. you like curious george and fairy tales and love it when daddy reads your book of bible stories (although hes been forgetting most nights)

you have your first crush too. (your 2nd cousin, meagan) youre a naughty boy when cousin meagan comes around. youve already been down her shirt and unbuttoned her top on one occasion. youre for sure your fathers boy!! you give her your flirty eyes and play shy with her too. i think she may break your heart though son, be prepared, hehe ;)

i taught you how to stick your tongue out, and you will copy anyone who does it. im working on blowing raspberries and rolling over now. you have little to no interest in either.

youre just now starting to realise that "oh i gots hands, and look they do stuff" you grasp things, like certain toys and mamas shirt.

anyways my boy, im so glad youre such a happy baby. you bring so much joy to a lot of peoples lives. im so full of love and joy for you, i wish you were here years ago!!
